Session 1: Artificial Intelligence (AI) 101 for Educators

This 1 hour session introduces K-12 educators to the fundamentals of AI and its growing impact on education. Designed for educators with little to no technical background, AI 101 for K-12 Educators provides an accessible overview of key AI concepts, terminology, and classroom applications. Participants will be introduced to practical tools, teaching strategies, and real-world examples to support the integration of AI in their teaching practice. The session highlights critical topics such as AI ethics, student privacy, and equitable access to AI technologies.
Session 2: Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
March 5th 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
This 1.5 hour session takes a closer look at the ethical considerations surrounding AI in K-12 education. Building on foundational knowledge, participants will examine key ethical challenges, including bias, plagiarism, privacy and teacher moral agency. Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, educators will explore how to navigate these challenges responsibly and incorporate ethical practices into their use of AI in the classroom.
Session 3: Hands-On with Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)
March 26th 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
This 1.5 hour session invites K-12 teachers to explore and experiment with generative AI tools designed to enhance teaching and learning. Participants will get hands-on experience with a variety of AI tools, learning how they can support tasks such as lesson planning, content creation, and personalized learning. Through guided activities and real-world examples, teachers will discover practical ways to integrate generative AI into their classrooms to save time, spark creativity, and engage students.
Session 4: Artificial Intelligence (AI) for System and School Leaders
April 28th 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
This 1.5 hour session offers educators a foundational understanding of AI and its transformative potential in education. Tailored for those with little to no technical background, AI 101 for System and School Leaders provides a clear and practical introduction to key AI concepts, terminology, and real-world applications in educational settings. Participants will explore tools, school authority use cases, and pressing topics such as AI ethics, privacy, and equitable access to AI technologies.
Session 5: Interactive Q and A Regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI)
May 28th 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
This 1.5-hour interactive session provides educators with the opportunity to ask Jillian Kowalchuk their questions about AI.
