Learning Opportunities

Petronella has recently retired after teaching for 33 years with Northern Lights Public Schools. During that time she has been a Learning Consultant, Assistant Principal, Literacy Specialist and a Classroom Teacher. Petronella has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a dual focus on Reading Instruction  and English Language Development. She has been facilitating professional development at a district level since 2007. Her work as a Learning Consultant has focused on supporting teachers and educational assistants in all subject areas and in all aspects of teaching- classroom management and the implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment through triangulation. Petronella has focused on integrating content area curriculums through backwards design, concept-based instruction, effective questioning and inquiry-based approaches. She believes in creating assessment criteria with students in order to support them in their own learning journey.  In her spare time Petronella likes cooking, canning, gardening  and exploring the great outdoors.
